چکیده

A traditional approach to model infectious diseases is to use compartment models based on differential equations, such as the SIR (Susceptible-Infected-Recovered) model. These models explain average behavior, but are inadequate to account for stochastic fluctuations of epidemiological variables. An alternative approach is to use Individual-Based Model (IBM), that represent each individual as a set of features that change dynamically over time. This allows modeling population phenomena as aggregates of individual interactions. This paper presents a general framework to model epidemiological systems using IBM as an alternative to replace or complement epidemiological compartment models. The proposed modeling approach is shown to allow the study of some phenomena which are related to finite-population demographic stochastic fluctuation. In particular, a procedure for the computation of the probability of disease eradication within a time horizon in the case of systems which have mean-field endemic equilibrium is presented as a direct application of the proposed approach. It is shown, how this general framework may be described as an algorithm suitable to model different types of compartment models. Numerical simulations illustrate how this approach may provide greater insight about a great variety of epidemiological systems.

Seasonality and Forecasting of Monthly Broiler Price in Iran

The objective of this study was to model seasonal behavior of broiler price in Iran that can be used to forecast the monthly broiler prices. In this context, the periodic autoregressive (PAR), the seasonal integrated models, and the Box-Jenkins (SARIMA) models were used as the primary nominates for the forecasting model. It was shown that the PAR (q) model could not be considered as an appropri...

A conceptual framework for an individual-based spatially explicit epidemiological model

This paper presents a conceptual framework to formalize an individual-based and spatially explicit model of the epidemiology of infectious diseases. The framework differs from that of the traditional population-based epidemiological models in terms of assumptions, conceptual models, and model structures. In particular, the author discusses four aspects of the model: (1) population segments or u...

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....

Susceptible-infectious-recovered models revisited: from the individual level to the population level.

The classical susceptible-infectious-recovered (SIR) model, originated from the seminal papers of Ross [51] and Ross and Hudson [52,53] in 1916-1917 and the fundamental contributions of Kermack and McKendrick [36-38] in 1927-1932, describes the transmission of infectious diseases between susceptible and infective individuals and provides the basic framework for almost all later epidemic models,...
